MINUTES - D.R.Y.L. Meeting hosted by Bristol / Neshaminy Harbor Yacht Clubs

OPENING:  Meeting called to order @ 8:01pm. President Paul Jusino introduced and thanked Commodore, Joe Oberlander, Dr. Harry Borgersen and Mary Jusino for their help in preparing for the meeting.

GUEST SPEAKER:

 

ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: All present except Treasurer Phyllis Blackeby and Financial Secretary Mike Kovacs.

ROLL CALL OF COMMITTEE HEADS/ORGANIZATIONS: All present except Regatta and Safe Boating.

ROLL CALL OF CLUBS: 27 clubs present

OFFICERS & COMMITTEE REPORTS

President:  Juice thanked everyone for coming out – hoped everyone had a great holiday season.   He would like to thank everyone again for allowing him to represent the league for the fifth year. If there are any issues or concern please feel free to contact him. Juice would also like to thank past 2nd Vice president as well as past recording Secretary Rick Patton for all of their services, and also wish Erin best of luck as Secretary and Rick Patton as 3rd Vice President. As the bylaw states, the Committee heads were announced. The only changes were Bob Bocock taking over the cruise and Juice will be heading the yearbook with the help of his fellow Officers. Also, next meeting the person and club of the year will be voted on next meeting. Jucie and Mary attended the CBYCA Ball in Baltimore at which time he had a chance to speak with Commodore Butler and Vice Commodore Brawley who are in charge of the board meeting on March 20th. He will get in contact with the officers of the DRYL.

3rd Vice President: Rick Patton – apologized for the minutes not being on letterhead.

Secretary:  Erin Maloney – no report.

Audit & Budget: Bill Branchide –

Banquet:  Mary Jusino – Banquet is February 27th, 2010 from 7 – 12, choice between Prime Rib and Stuffed Fish, beer and wine included. Asking for any suggestions on door prizes. Please contact Mary for tickets.

Cruise:  Bob Bocock – Set for the week of July 17th, limit of 15 boats, itinerary to come next month.

Donations – $50 for the Polar Bear Plunge for the Special Olympics.

Fleet Surgeon: Harry Borgersen – no report.

Pageant:  Toni Nespola – introduced Miss National Park Boat Club Janine Greatrex. Queen Carla went to the CBYCA Ball went along with her parents and President Paul Jusino and First Lady Mary. Applications were handed out to all on the clubs. Things are going to be a little different as to how the theme is selected for this upcoming year. There will be a contest, please bring your idea to the next meeting and the new theme will be voted on. Pageant Committee meetings will begin next month scheduled for January 19th at PYC at 7:30.

Picnic: Marie Houseworth  – Marie is looking to meet with some of the Commodores on the river for possible locations for the picnic. There is a tentative date of September 20th, 2010 at Pennsylvania Y.C. will report back next month.

Public Affairs: Bill Garwood – no report.

Regatta:  Fred Saunders – no report. 

Safe Boating: Frank Gilbert – no report.

Shoreline Planning: Joe Campbell – no report.

Webmaster:  Paul Jusino/Ben Lewitt – Trying to keep the website as updated as possible.

Yearbook:  Paul Jusino – Club pages and Ads are due next month. Is having the Vice Presidents call last year Ads seeing if they are willing to renew their ad.

Boater Voter: Joe Campbell – no report.

CBYCA:  Bob Williams – no report.

National Boating Federation (NBF): Bob Williams – no report.

Pennsylvania Boating Association - SE (PBA): Bill Garwood – (waiting for Bill’s report)

FINANCIAL REPORTS

Checkbook opening balance for September was $15,008.44.  Financial secretary reported income of $236,00 while Joe Campbell reported disbursements of $2,289.09, resulting in a checkbook closing balance of $12,955.35. A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay the bills.

 

GOOD AND WELFARE

·         Westville Power Boat Asso. Announced their new delegate.

·         John Maloney thanked Butch and Joey Gricco as well as Harbor Light YC for their hospitality on the weekend of December 12th.

·         Liberty Sailing Club is holding CPR classes on February 27th, 2010. Contact Annie for more Info.

·         Yapewi AC Commodore’s Gala will be held on January 16, 2010 the cost is $25.

·         New Jersey polar Bear Plunge in Wildwood will be held January 16, 2010.

·         Pennsylvania YC is holding a Beef and Beer on January 23, 2010 cost is $25.

·         Trenton Thunder is scheduled for June 4th, 2010.

·         Ron Patterson won the attendance award - $36

·
